After more than twenty years in college leadership, I have a long list of things I wish someone had told me earlier. Some came from decisions that worked. More came from the ones I would make differently.
This blog is where I plan to work through those lessons in public. I will write about four things I spend most of my time on.
Programs that lead somewhere. How colleges decide which credentials to build and which to retire, and how to work closely with employers while keeping academic standards in faculty hands.
AI in teaching and operations. What it takes to move a campus from curiosity to responsible, everyday use, and where the real risks are.
Students who arrive from somewhere else. My doctoral research focused on international student persistence. Many of its lessons apply to any student who starts college feeling like an outsider.
Leading across two systems. I have worked in Ontario and in New York. The two systems solve similar problems in different ways, and each has something to teach the other.
I will also share notes from conferences, books worth reading, and the occasional question I have not answered yet.
If something here is useful, or if you see it differently, I would like to hear from you.
