About

For more than twenty years I have led colleges in Ontario and New York, building programs that lead to good work and the supports students need to finish them.

Portrait of Maher Ghalayini

At SUNY Niagara I serve on the President's Cabinet and lead academic programs, faculty affairs, enrollment strategy, and accreditation. I am guiding the College's Future Forward 2026–2030 strategic plan and its Middle States accreditation reaffirmation. Before SUNY Niagara, I served as Senior Vice President, Academic at St. Lawrence College and held senior roles at Georgian College and Sheridan College. Earlier, I was a campus president with Corinthian Colleges in Toronto.

My doctoral research at Northeastern University focused on international student persistence. That work still shapes how I think about advising, belonging, and retention for every student. I also hold an LLM in Business Law from York University and an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University, which I draw on when managing budgets, partnerships, and labor relations.

I also teach. I have been in the classroom since 2004, most recently in accounting and management, and I design online professional development courses through Pilos Learning.
